Export invoice format under GST

An export invoice is a GST tax invoice with a few extra lines. Rule 46 of the CGST Rules says what they are; customs, your bank and the buyer's importer look for the rest.

What it must show

Customs and banks also expect the port of loading, the shipping bill number and date, the currency and the terms of delivery (FOB, CIF…). This maker prints the port, shipping bill, currency and exchange rate; type the delivery terms in the Notes.

Currency

GST is worked out and reported in rupees. Type the rates in ₹ and the exchange rate you use; the invoice shows the total in the foreign currency too. For goods, the customs exchange rate notified for the date of the shipping bill is the usual reference; ask your customs broker or accountant which rate to use for your returns.
